      Mackay Bushfire Risk Assessments was founded by Andrew Mackay who through his experience in the construction industry and living on the South Coast NSW has seen the effects a bushfire can have on families and their properties.

      Andrew completed his Graduate Certificate of Bushfire Protection through the University of Western Sydney and became a Level 2 Accredited Bushfire Planning & Design (BPAD) Practitioner though the Fire Protection Association Australia (FPA Australia).

      Bushfire Attack Level Assessment

      Standard Bushfire Attack Level assessment for any areas across New South Wales prepared in accordance for a complying development on which the development is to be carried out is not in the bushfire attack level 40 (BAL 40) or the flame zone (BAL FZ).

      Bushfire Assessment Reports

      For new or existing dwellings. Development consent cannot be granted for any development on bushfire prone land without a certificate by a person recognised by the Rural Fire Service (RFS). This report forms part of the development application for submission to the relevant consent authority / council.

      Pre-Purchase Bushfire Threat Assessments

      Pre-purchase bushfire threat assessments can be prepared for perspective property buyers or owners who wish to establish the level of bushfire threat from bushland located on adjacent properties. The current legislation, Section 149 planning certificate (EP & A Act 1979) only identifies that a property is bushfire prone, and does not specify the level of bushfire threat.

      Australian Standard 3959-2009 Construction of Building in Bushfire Prone Areas Compliance

      This can be obtained at the preliminary stages of building design or after building approval has been obtained. This compliance specification can detail material options or specify how your development will or may satisfy the standard.

      Special Fire Protection Purpose (SFPP) Developments

      The nature of a SFPP development means that the occupants of the building may be more vulnerable to bushfire attack and may require extra consideration. These include, but are not limited to schools, child care centres, hospitals, retirements villages and hotels. SFPP developments require approval from the Rural Fire Service (RFS).
