      Bushfire Attack Level Assessment

      A bushfire attack level assessment is required for any areas in New South Wales that are to be developed to comply with a development permit, provided the development is not in bushfire attack level 40 (BAL 40) or the flame zone (BAL FZ).

      Bushfire Assessment Reports

      Whether building a new home or renovating an existing one. The Rural Fire Service (RFS) is required to provide a certificate before any development is allowed on bushfire-prone land. In addition to the development application, this report is included in the council's assessment.

      Property owners or buyers who want to know how much bushfire threat neighbouring properties pose can have pre-purchase bushfire threat assessments prepared. A Planning Certificate under Section 149 (EP & A Act 1979) only indicates that a property is bushfire prone, without indicating the level of fire danger.
